Bempton Cliffs nature reserve

Here are some photos from that amazing place, with those steep limestone cliffs and about 250,000 birds nesting there.
I only had 2 hours for me there in the evening which is far too little but it was awesome to see the multitude of different birds.
What I saw then was Gannet, Razorbill, Guillemot, Puffin, Fulmar, gulls, Kittiwake, Whitethroat, and last but definitely the best the Barn owl.
The Barn owl I saw at the end of the stay which was a shame for it was getting a little too dark and because I simply did not have more time to shoot it.
But I managed to get some photos of the stylish owl, so i was happy about that.

Now there will be no blogging on 3 weeks, beacause I'm going to the summer house in Croatia. And there i will work on the house, sunbathe, swim, and just enjoy.
Have a nice summer, blog readers and blog friends.

Early morning at Redmires

Couple of days ago, I was away up to Redmires reservoars an early morning.
I had read on the Sheffield bird study group that the cuckoo had been heard there and since I've been waiting for it to appear, I neeeded to go there.
Why early morning then, well, it is most active then and it's easier to get close to it because it searches for food on the ground.
So if you are lucky then you can try to plan how it will fly around the area to seek food and wait for it in one place, but unfortunately,  this morning it didn't seek for food :(
I guess it's because it can not hide among the small trees up on moorland because there are no leaves on the trees yet.
So it's probably a little timid still, it is only the male in place so far, but the female will probably get there aany day..
So I had to go and shoot some other stuff insteadit was full activity in the fields and forests.
Pheasent's were arguing with each other, rabbits running around, and the birds was singing. It's really great to be out early in the morning when everything wakes up.

Early morning at Redmires

Early this morning at 5:20  I took my bike up to redmires Reservoirs, the weather seemed promising.
It was pretty cold this morning (8 C), but the sun was supposed to turn out today, according to the weather forecast.
Once up I listened for the cuckoo, but it was quiet today, little bit disappointed because that was the one I would take pictures of today.
It was just to start walking around the area to find photo opportunities, saw a snipe, but it was far away. Shortly afterwards, I see a Wheatear and i get some pictures.
After that I decided to go to the other side of the reservoir, just to try get some pictures of the Linnet. During the walk there, I saw a bull finch was odd to see one of those in the green out there, because Iam used to see them in Sweden in the winter.
The linnet`s was in place, but now it had to start blowing a lot and it was very cold in the wind,  and now it started to rain and hail at times.
I felt no fun being on that side, so I went back to the other side where there was less wind. There, I managed to see a new bird species for me, it was a Golden plower.
I held out for a while, and cycled home at 9:00

I found a white rabbit

Evening at Redmire Reservoirs

Yesterday afternoon, I decided to visit Redmire in the evening, mostly to try to get nice pictures of birds in the warm-colored evening light. but the wind was blowing quite a bit about 9 ms, and it was difficult to hand hold the camera in the wind.
I did not see any rare birds, but i saw mini Lapwings they are so cute.
I also saw a lot of hares, have never seen so many hares there before. but they usually are morning and evening active.
Managed also to shoot a water vole from a good level, I was almost in the water;)
But the best that evening was the sunset, it tends to be really nice sky when it is a bit small overcast and windy, so again this time. :)

Redmire reservoir (birds)

Today I went with a friend Aravind to The Redmires Reservoirs to looking for some birds and water voles to shoot (pictures of course).
The trip to there was somewhat of luxary as I took the bus to last stop, and then we walked last bit (approx 2km). As you probably know, I usually take the bike :)
Unfortunately the weather was not the best, it was blowing quite a lot and it also rained at times.
The wind was enough that we did not see as many birds as I like, but I managed to take pictures of the lovely little bird called Stonechat.
Aravind also managed to get a pic of a water vole, first time for him but to me they are becoming every day things :)
Thanks Aravind for the nice company!!

Redmire Birds

Today the alarm wake me 5.30, and 6.00 a clock i was allready heading towards redmires reservoirs with my bike. It was pretty cold out today and when i came to the reservoirs about 6.30 it was some frost on the ground.
The goal today was to go around all the three reservoirs just to watch after new birds that has arrived.
And i found four different birds that i never had seen before, so that was nice :)
Unfortunatly could not get that close to some of the birds.
After three hours i biked back home again, with the camera full of fresh pics.
