Long weekend in Brecon Beacon National Park

I know, I know, it has not been that many posts lately. I'm finding it extremely difficult to motivate myself and photograph right now.
Anyhow, last weekend we were off to South Wales and a National Park named Brecon Beacons.
It has southern England's highest peak, Pen y Fan which is at 886m. Maybe doesn't sound that high, but it is rather impressive so close to the sea and as far south. We managed with two hikes, one called The Horseshoe and it passes 3-4 highest peaks in the area of course including Pen y Fan. The walk is easy with some steeper inclines that felt in the thighs :) Still about 15km long.
The first day's was the so called Waterfall Trail. A really nice path through the forest and it felt a bit like walking through a rainforest with all the water, all the green and moss everywhere. This hike would also be at about 14-15km but we had a bad map and a poor reader (me) ;) so that ended up being about 20km instead.

This weekend, we were meant to go to the Cairngorms NP in Scotland. Unfortunately it seems the weather is going to be bad, so we lets see if south England offers something instead again.

Hike in High Peak District

Yesterday, me and my wife, took the train to Edale which is located in the middle of the Peak district NP.
Edale is a very popular area for hikers, mountain bike riders, hang gliders, runners and more.
Kinder plateau which is reached after a relatively short walk is quite unspoiled because it is a large flat moorland and many people would not go there because it is very wet, boggy and difficult to walk.

Here is also the highest peak in the Peak District 636 meters above sea level.
We have tried to walk on the moorland once, and even though we had a map and compass it is easy to get lost there, for there is nothing that you can not orient after.
We just went up to the ridge and followed it for about 6km, we had intended to go all the way to Kinder Downfall which is Peak District's highest waterfall (30m) but the weather changed to rain o bad weather so we skipped it this time.
It also a bit of fun  to walk after the ridges because there is all the cool rock formations to found here and there.
We passed in our opinion, the coolest of them all (Wool Packs) there are all sorts of strange rock formations. Well worth a visit.
From here we went to Jakob's Ladder, it is long man maid rock staircase and back to Edale.
A nice walk of 13km.

Some pics of a waterfall

Have spent a lot of time down in the Rivelin Valley this week, has photographed mushrooms and so I have put up some bird feeding stations.
I put up the The bird feeder `s so i can get closer when i take bird pictures.
Otherwise, I just have been strolling around there and tried to find something interesting to photograph.
A place I always stop at is a small waterfall of about 1.5 m and there is always something to photograph. Have seen trout that have tried to force up the waterfalls, but have unfortunately not been able to get them in the picture yet. But I will try when the weather gets better, it's been fog 3 days in a row and then overcast. Now I want some sun before I go down there again :))

Camera equipment i used: Nikon 3Ds, nikon 50mm f1,8D and a tripod.
