An early morning attempt

A few days ago I tried to get up early and take the bike up to Redmires reservoirs to get few pics of the Cuckoo. Unfortunately I left the flat an hour too late and by doing that missed the cuckoo that already was inside the forest. Cuckoos song is something many will recognize, but not many have actually seen it. I have been lucky to have seen many times flying around the moorlands or sitting on poles looking and waiting for the caterpillars and other delicious food. Anyway, enough about that. Will keep you posted when I make another attempt.
Even without the Cuckoo, I stayed outdoors and enjoyed the weather. Lately it has been wonderfully warm and sunny, so some photos I managed to get. So here they come.
I have 'photographers block' for the moment, hence not many blogs lately... Soon will pass.. :))

Some days ago, I was up to Redmires reservoirs I had no plan really, most went there to check if the spring/summer birds has arrived.
And it had happened a lot since last time I was there, there were swallows, little ringed plover, wheatear, skylark, sand martin, snipe and more, but no ring ouzel that I really wanted to see.
However, I went to the place where it is possible to see water voles and there had the thick blanket of snow finally disappeared so much that they dared to come out and eat along the banks. I was lucky enough to get close to a female I think, because it was very large and because of the size a think she has babies inside her.
I followed it for a while before my legs began to go numb, to squat a long time is not good. :))

Early morning at Redmires

Yesterday the clock woke me at 4:00 and it was time to take the bike to Redmires Reservoirs, I wanted to get there before the sun rises, which it does 0500. I wanted to be early on the spot to try to sneak me in the golden plower, but once in place it was only to find that they were not even there: (and also that there were 3 sheep farmers who went through all the fields and scare all the birds while they gathered all the sheep: ( So it was just move on, I decided to photograph morning dew and other things that were highlighted nicely by the rising sun. The morning was really hot around 20C and humidity, appeared to be a fine day. Went on down to the reservoirs to look for birds, middle pond had a whole flock of gulls nesting on the beach, also saw the typical species that tends to be there. On the way there as I passed the rabbits I took the opportunity to take some photos, got lucky that the white rabbit came up and ate, it's really cute. Then suddenly when I was down at reservoirs the fog came out of nowhere, then I decited to go home. It was now at: 08.30. The great day that was promised it disappeared completely in the fog.

Golden Plower in Redmires

As I wrote in the previous blog post I hoped the weather would clear up at night and it did. So, at: 18.00, I took and biked up to Redmires, forecast had promised Cloudy with rain, but when I checked out from the apartment, it was clear skies and warm in the air but still it was windy, which I felt when I approached Redmires for up there it is pretty open.
You could say that Redmires is low mountain area. My goal was to shoot Golden plower for now they had taken the prohibition to enter open access land, so now it was free to go wherever I wanted, among heather bushes.
For it is there most of the Golden plower is hiding, but it is easy to locate them by whistling on their special way so they usually respond directly :) found a couple that I immediately tried to sneak me in, it was just  lie down in the wet heather and creeping, crawling up to them. As the closest I was about 20m away wanted to of course get even closer but they were right suspicious.
 I would also be if a big lump trying to creep up to me :) after that I visited  the little creek that runs there, and found my little favorite voles namely water vole. Found a small one that I took some pictures, but now the clock was already 21:00 so it was pretty dark down in the creek, So it was just to raise iso in the camera to 1000 turn on the vr function and lie down on the ground, so I got some sharp image.
But now it was time to start getting back home did not go home directly, but biking around the area in search of owls before it was pitch black outside. But unfortunately, the owls won again: (: (

Winter in Redmires reservoir

Today I took the bike up to Redmires Reservoir, with the aim to take pictures of water vole in snowy environment. Unfortunately the snow had already meltet :/ So instead I took some landscape and bird pictures. Found a bird I never had seen before, the Reed bunting, quite little bird.
Compared to yesterday the weather was nice, sunny and maybe +8C. Much nicer to be outside again.

Idag har jag varit uppe till ett ställe som heter Redmires Reservoir, det är ett populärt ställe får fågelskådare.
Anledningen är att där passerar en hel del fåglar när dom flyttar, och detta gör dom på våren och hösten.
Idag var det inte mycket till flyttfåglar, så jag gick och kollade efter ödlor, fjärilar, blommor och fåglar förstås.
Tog även lite landskapsbilder, för att visa hur det ser ut där då, men det kommer jag att skriva om imorn.
För att idag vart det ca 400bilder tagna så det blir att sortera lite bland dom och det tar lite tid.
Däremot så hittade jag en hel del vattensorkar idag, och dom bilderna har jag redigerat färdigt så håll till godo.
