Today it was time for a walk in the pouring rain, I chose to go down to the Rivelin Valley.
The rain started last night but already the little river had very high water.
The walk is about 7km which usually take 2h it feels just right for a wet day out. :)
The day was dark and dreary and the forest felt very empty of wildlife, so I tried to shoot some fungus instead, and also some pics of the flooding river.
But I saw a little splash of color in the form of a kingfisher, but it disappeared in a hurry in to the bushes. I waited a while for it to come up again but I gave up after 15min it was getting cold to just stand there.
So I went back home and tomorrow I will go to Sweden (Stockholm) to celebrate Christmas and New Year.
I finally get the opportunity to shoot images that is more normal for the season :))

All week I have been trying to get close to the kingfisher down in the Rivelin Valley.
It has been there every day but I have not managed to get some more picture of it, the first time worked out pretty well, I got close anyway.
Now I've given up on that project, so early this morning I cycled to one of my bird feeder places my idea was to try and shoot jays. How did it go, well the jay came two times but as usual they are incredibly observant.
It disappeared every time I tried to shoot it, because it saw me move inside the camouflage. So after 2.5 hours, I gave up because I started to freeze in the cold morning air.
I went down to the Rivelin instead to check for kingfisher but it was not there, so I continued to walk up the Rivelin Valley and looked after the dipper instead but it was there either. It was a long time since I last saw it, it might come later in the winter. So I found some mushrooms to shoot instead, also found spring flowers that have started to bloom again in some sunny places :) After 6 hours in the valley, it was time to go home.
Camera i used: Nikon 3Ds and nikon 200-400mm f4 lens, tripod.
Some pictures from yesterday, when I was down in the Rivelin Valley and photographed mushrooms.
The weather was very foggy, damp and warm. But down in the valley, it was not so much fog. Stayed also at a waterfall which is about 1,5 meter high, and there I saw trout who tried to force their way up for the waterfall. Tried to take pictures of it but had only macro lens with me, so it wasnt easy. But I'll get there someday to try to shoot it.
Photo equipment i used: Nikon 3Ds, tamron macro lens 90mm Di f2,8 and a tripod.
