Graffiti festival

In the beginning of May, a graffiti festival 'Spring Remake' was held close to where I live. The area is a small industrial site and since 2014 it has been a legal place for graffiti and occasional rave party.
It is great to have that kind of place for artists do their magic :)
Don't appreciate when there is graffiti or tags in places where it's not supposted to be.
Back to the festival, this year it was around 100 artist from all over the world transforming the walls, and around 10 000 people was there to see it this year (its growing each year!). There was not only graffiti but foodtrucks and music in the evenings, so its worth to go there and see it all.
I was there just before they opened in the mornings, that's why there is few people in the pics :))

                                                                         

Mute swan (Knölsvan)

This sequence of mating mute swan is from the same weekend that I shot the whooper swan earlier this spring. I have seen it before but never managed to capture it on the camera, pure luck this time too.
It looks pretty brutal - the male bites the females neck and pushes her head below the water. It's all over rather fast though, max 10sec.

Sorry for not being so active here, but it has not been time or unfortunately motivation for it.

Whooper swans in Tysslinge

Five weeks back we visited the lake Tysslinge just outside Örebro. 
The lake is quite long, narrow and shallow which is perfect for all sorts of birds throughout the year but 

the highlight is when almost 5000 wooper swans arrives to the fields to feed and socializing 

for couple of weeks up to a month before continuing up to the northern parts of Sweden to get chicks.
The whole area around the lake is a nature reserve and it`s surrounded by fences so nobody can get too 
close to them and disturb.
Just imagine when 5000 whooper swans "talks" to each others - the noise is pretty cool :))

Weekend in Paris

A month ago I and my wife were off to Paris for a 4-day long sightseeing weekend. We kept an eye on the weather forecast and it seemed promising with partly cloudy and around 10-14C, easy decision - summer jacket and thought that it should be enough.
But as you might now be expecting it was overcast, windy and about 5-7 freezing C. I was so frozen and stubborn that I didn't even consider buying an extra sweater.

Honestly, I was not that impressed with Paris nor the avenues or the buildings and its said to be a city of fashion and romantic, nah did not see so much of that either. Maybe the City and the people were a bit tired of the long winter too.

The days were spent walking around everywhere and exploring obviously, we used the metro too which is very easy to understand.
Not sure we ate any typical French food beside the mussels, well and all that cheese and bread we bought in the evening and munched on :))

I realized that I have not blogged in six months, oops, but I'm coming back soon. I just as usual has been so many other things that have taken my time or am I just lazy :)

Beech forest autumn glow

This autumn came somewhat later compared to earlier years so it wasn't till  beginning of November we were off to Sundbyholm (outside Eskilstuna) to shoot the amazing colors of the beerch forest.
As the weather changed rather quickly so did the colors of the leafs too, from green to bare trees in just two weeks.. Swoosh...


Why this forest you might wonder, well it is counted as the largest and most northern non-planted beech forest in Sweden. There may be smaller higher up in the country but not even close to this one.
Also, there is this beautiful avenue that dates all the way back to the 1700:s that leads up to Sundbyholm castle. Definitely worth a trip if you are around!
                                                                                                     

Weekend in Dalarna

As mentioned earlier we are doing our best to enjoy and explore our gorgeous Sweden. This time heading off to Dalarna and a small village Tällberg famous for its beautiful location on the shore of lake Siljan. Puls to it all being that it has good SPA hotels; sauna here we come! 
Dalarna is famous for its decorated wooden horses (Dalahästen), Mora knifes, Falu red paint, special architecture of the wooden houses, Falu copper mine (UNESCO world heritage site) and of course traditional midsummer celebrations.
In the end we didn't spend that much time in the spa as we were just having too much to do and see. Hiking in the amazing autumn colors where paths were bathing in bright yellow leafs fallen of the birch trees. Do I have to say anything more?
I was out both evenings/nights taking pictures of the MilkyWay hoping to get a glimpse of Aurora. It had made appearance earlier that week but not while we were there :) Better luck next time!
And it will be a next time as we have to see this amazing area during spring time. Expectations are high.
